A task force pushing for a regional arts museum in the Conejo Valley is in negotiations to buy 2 1/2 acres of vacant land in Thousand Oaks, a leader of the effort said Monday.....

The Arts Council of the Conejo Valley will present "ACCV Board and Friends" in the Galleria at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts.
This show is a Memorial Exhibition honoring Joseph Ilowitz (1917-2008).
Exhibition dates are May 9th - June 30th, 2009.

The Hillcrest Center is located at 403 W Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks, 91360.
Janet Amiri and Connie Tunick are co-curators for this show.....

After living in South Texas until 1979, I moved to California where I taught high school English and journalism at Newbury Park High School.
In our retirements, my husband and I have centered most of our activities on art and music.
We have eight grandchildren in California and Texas and and a soon to be born ninth in Paris, France. (Sounds like a geat place to paint.....)

Connie Tunick shows two of her mixed media pieces at the Thousand Oaks Community Gallery. The piece on the left, titled “Recycled Memories #1,” won first place in mixed media at the recent Thousand Oaks Art Association Juried Show, which ran through Feb. 27. Both pieces were inspired by the late artist Robert Rauschenberg.....

It is the discovery of three almost invisible drawings on the back of Leonardo da Vinci's Virgin and Child With Saint Anne

Gary Raymond gave an artists talk in October during a walk-through at the closing reception of his solo sound art exhibition at the Long Beach Museum of Art. He spoke about the evolution of his art, using individual pieces to illustrate and illuminate his concepts and motivations.....

As a native of California Orvel A. Jones received his B.A. in Fine Art from the California State University, Northridge and a Masters from California Lutheran University. His studies, under the guidance of Hans Burkhardt, helped to develop a passion for expressing his emotions with bold brushwork and a loose, impressionistic style. Early works were quite contemporary and garnered numerous first place awards in the Forum of the Arts, Buena Ventura Art Association and Olivia Hathaway competitions for Ventura County.
